BBC

An indispensable resource

There is a wealth of information on the BBC site, but I major on news/weather/biz news/Archers and the occasional blog. The news and information pages are well laid out, though there are occasional astonishing lapses in literacy and numeracy, and I find some of the features a bit fluffy. The BBC is sometimes a bit late with breaking news. The site is technically strong - it rarely fails. The Archers pages are fun but sometimes the updates are erratic. The iPlayer is great for time-shift and catch-up.

Amazon set the standard

Product reviews are very helpful, especially when choosing gift books. There is a good range of electronic products, and specs are usually detailed enough. Access to other suppliers (Amazon marketplace) is useful, especially for second hand books. One-click ordering is great. Delivery and giftwrapping options are practical (though at that price I could be wishing for some more tasteful wrapping paper). Amazon in my view set the standard for online retailing.

Good product, good service, predictable delivery

The website search function could be better ("patio furniture cover" yielded no results), but the product, price and service were good. I particularly liked the way an email arrived on the day of delivery indicating a one-hour arrival window - which was met.
