We just bought chip-board flooring for our loft conversion from Wickes. Researched the product online and Wickes offered the best value.
Item is classed as 'big and bulky' but was still next day delivery.
Ordered online yesterday afternoon and reveived immediate confirmation by email. Within an hour, Wickes had rung to confirm the order and check we wanted delivery the next day. They rang again a few hours later to confirm the time we could expect delivery.
The delivery arrived promptly this morning, as agreed, and I was very impressed by the speed it arrived from ordering to arrival, especially as it was a bulky order. I was also very impressed with the communication as we were kept well informed at every stage.
We have also bought all our radiators and plumbing from Wickes (in store) as well as our bathroom suite and always found them to be good value and good quality. They are very good for trade goods and basic DIY equipment, as long as you don't require anything too fancy. Never had any problem exchanging goods either, even outside of receipt.
Although the value seems good, I have rarely experienced such a slow service. Bought an item which 'usually ships in 1-2 business days.' Payment was taken immediately, but it was not dispatched for 8 days, and even then, only when I chased it. The item had to be returned, and telephone calls took too long to answer. Each email I sent received an automated response stating 'we will answer your query within 1 business day.' This was never the case. Responses always took significantly longer, and I had to chase for each and every step of the refund while they dragged their feet. The refund took over a month to be reinstated, and had to be chased up at every stage. Unfortunately, the low price does not make up for the extremely slow service which requires more effort than it is worth to get a response. I would never use this company again.
