I originally ordered my Neff gas hob from Powerdirect as they were the cheapest I could find - you certainly get what you pay for (or don't,more accurately). I paid for the item in full and my money was debited from my account straight away. After waiting the stipulated 10 working days without contact, I spoke to Powerdirect for an update on my order - they asked me to call back in a further four days. After another four days I called again and was told that there was still no news of my hob. I cancelled over the phone and ordered through a different company (the replacement item was delivered within 20 hours!) but despite this I still had to fill in another two forms to claim my refund. The confirmation email stated that I may have to wait 14 days for the money to be repaid.
It seems to me that Powerdirect are exploiting their dissatisfied customers by retaining their money for an unnecessary length of time and are accepting orders without knowing if they can actually be filled or not. This is a terrible way to do business and I shall not be using them again - no matter how cheap they are.

Having waited three weeks for another online company to supply my Neff gas hob, I finally gave up and asked for a refund (which, co-incidentally, I am still waiting for). Immediately after cancelling the first order, I re-ordered the same item form Marks Electrical - it was delivered and ready to install by 11:00 am the next day. I am absolutely delighted with the speed of the service, the efficient delivery update process and the post-delivery satisfaction check.
