I thought DPD was better than the others...

I've used DPD in the past and have had nothing but first class service. But how wrong can you be huh? I ordered goods on Friday afternoon expecting it today. I even got an email from my retailer confirming today's date. I usually get a text in the morning of delivery from DPD giving me a rough estimate within the hour of when my delivery was going to arrive. This was the feature that I thought DPD had over the rival courier companies. However entered my tracking number online I noticed that my delivery was in the York delivery depot to be delivered tomorrow. After contacting my retailer about this they informed that my delivery had in fact gone to the wrong depot and that it is out for delivery tomorrow. DPD couldn't even be bothered to inform me of their error. If I hadn't contacted the retailer, like a lemon I would have waited indoors all day for a delivery which was never going to materialise. I cannot fault the retailer and the after sales service which they provided was very useful. Just one final note. Unlike other courier companies, I discovered that I could only contact DPD via their email enquiry form. There is no contact number to talk to a real life human being. In future I will be thinking twice on which courier company I wish to use. Even if I have to pay that little bit more, the service has got to be better than the problems I've encountered from DPD today.

Impressed for my first order

Though I subscribe to Ebuyer's newsletters I've never actually ordered anything from them before. Not until, on my birthday, they sent me a gift by email offering me a free next day delivery charge saving £9.99. I decided to take them up on their generous offer. I ordered a PSU just after midnight on a tuesday morning & the next day an hour short of midday my delivery arrived by Parcelforce. Goods arrived well packaged & as scheduled. Only reason for not giving 5 stars is that if I was to pay almost £10 for postage I'd want a desired delivery time slot. Not wait in all day for Parcelforce to turn up at any time of the day. Saying that, I'd recommend Ebuyer to my friends.

Overclockers UK

No problems as yet...

Well I've read mixed reviews about Overclockers. I'm currently building my first ever computer from scratch & feel that I shouldn't just stick to one company but spread the custom around. Obviously if my first order turns into a disaster I wouldn't purchase from them again. I found the service with Overclockers to be good. They used the same delivery service as their competitor (not saying who) so goods arrived on time & securely packaged. I think like any company, the proof of the pudding comes when it's time to return a product for whatever reason on how they handle your enquiry. Having experienced good service from Overclockers so far, I would use them again & recommend them to my friends.


BT : a company to avoid

I recently ordered an internal compact flash card reader for a computer I'm building. I'd never used BT Shop before and was hesitant in my order being successful if it was anything like their telephone service. At the time i placed the order it was late at night so wasn't expecting the goods to arrive for at least 2 days. Despite the product only costing £16 I wasn't given an option of paying a premium delivery charge for a scheduled day to prevent me from imprisoning myself at home for a few days until it arrived. That was the first detail which didn't impress me. A few days later I received an email to say that the product I ordered had been discontinued and that my order had been cancelled and no funds had come out of my account. In a panic I contacted my bank to confirm that. I then contacted BT to ask why I was able to submit my card info to them for an item which had been discontinued. They said, and I quote, "it was a mistake". Minutes after I ended that phone conversation I searched on google for an alternative company to buy this card reader and who in my search results do I see selling the same product? That's right. BT. They haven't even removed the product from their website. So from my first and last shopping experience with BT, do not buy from them unless you want to end up being disappointed.

Scan Computers

first class

I was dubious about ordering expensive computer components from this company. Whenever I order goods from websites I've never used again, I rarely use a company where I have no direct contact number to reach them on. However, compared with other websites, their prices were way lower than that of their competitors so I risked it. And boy did my first purchase with them pay off. You get endless emails regarding your delivery plus texts messages. The last text I got from them was this morning to say my motherboard would be delivered between 14:06 and 15:06. Then at 14:09 there's a knock on my door and there it was. Can't say any better than that.



I always use Amazon UK as for first port of call. Should I find the same goods cheaper elsewhere I always ask myself the question. But what if something goes wrong? Sometimes it's a case of better the devil you know.
