After spending a large amount of money with this company I thought after their initial stock problems (3 times I personally rang up to be told an item would be re-stocked next week, which in the end never happened) I thought my experience with this retailer could only improve. How wrong I was.
The problem occurred after assembling all of the pc parts. The pc would not boot and the error code presented by the motherboard revealed it was an issue with the ram. After a small amount of tinkering I found that one of the two ram sticks was faulty as the computer did not start with it installed, but worked perfectly with the other.
Low and behold I sent the ram sticks back to Overclockers to be replaced. About a week later however, I receive an email telling me the ram sticks were being re-delivered back to me and had been found to have no faults. I phoned the customer support line to attempt to explain the situation, only to be treated as a liar by a rude gentleman who thought the whole event was rather funny. On top of this Overclockers even tried to extort an extra £10 out of me 'for testing'. The cheek! (And all this within the 7 working day distance selling period, which Overclockers also attempted to dispute!)
After several emails to the manager (a man named Andrew Gibson, if I recall) to which I received no reply I eventually opted to refuse the re-delivery and threaten Overclockers with a small claims court referral. Surprise surprise I was surreptitiously, without as much as an email or even acknowledgement, refunded the money for the ram. It seems rogue companies such as Overclockers only take you seriously after threats of legal action.
Needless to say, after spending over £300 with this retailer and to be treated with the contempt I received, I will be giving this company a wide berth, and would recommend any other consumer to do likewise. It is not an experience I would wish on anybody.
I've placed many orders with Ebuyer and spent several thousands of pounds with them over the years. Their customer support is excellent and their RMA process exemplary (they come and collect the faulty item from you). However after a recent purchase I was dismayed to find they were now using the dreaded Parcelforce as their courier, who were unable to honour their stated claim of 'next day delivery' despite the fact my address is just 15 minutes drive from their national hub!
Ebuyer need to cancel their contract with these idiots and use a better courier such as DPD
