HMV.com says "If you've pre-ordered, we'll aim to get it to you on the day of release."
I pre-ordered a game for my son because of this claim, but it arrived days late.
There does not appear to be any way to contact someone at HMV.com about late deliveries (their policy is for the customer to wait 14days past the delivery date).
I'd recommend going elsewhere if you want a timely delivery.
Typically quick deliveries, very good pricing and good selection.
When I have had problems they have been responded to quite quickly and the resolutions have always been good.
They respond to customer input (I wish I could say the same for all web companies!), and seem to actually want to provide good service.
