I placed my order online one week before Christmas for a Denon DAB39 single mini hifi unitand a pair of Monitor Audio BX2 speakers and cable package for the family room. Exceptional AV didn't have the black Denon (though they may have got stock on the Friday, though they could not guarantee that) and so I went away and had a think. Actually, my other Denon AV kit in a different room is silver and this would be set in a black unit, so it would be nice to see the Denon! I contacted them again and asked for the Silver version. I also asked about better cable and they exchanged that without a problem. What more could could I ask for? Next day delivery? Yes, it arrived next day. Brilliant service, amazingly pleasant over the phone. No rush when speaking with me, even though by this time it was the Thursday before Christmas. Everything was done at their computer in real time with my request. Fantastic service. One final thing. With the speakers now a little more "run in", it sounds great, especially with the digital in from the flat screen TV giving the unit that extra versatility beyond iPod plug in, CD play and DAB+ radio. So, all in all, a great buying experience and great products.
My pet hate with online ordering is being told a product is in stock, having my money taken for it and then finding out the item is out of stock. On the plus side I did get a call the next day after from a very pleasant lady saying it was out of stock and I would get my money back and indeed it has been refunded, so not a disaster. Just not a clean easy shopping experience. Easily fixed with stock updates via point of sale data. I am sure my experience is more of a one off.
