Ordered a little LED torch online from Chain Reaction Cycles. It came with the card it was on all bent and creased while the plastic bubble pack had been cut open and had a grubby bit of sticky tape over it.
I sent it back with a cross note saying I expected something in completely new, off-the-shelf condition. The reply I received was, "Sorry you feel that way", which I thought was a bit flippant.
A couple of weeks later my son ordered one of the same from CRC, in a different colour, and his too had been opened, it was in just as unpresentable a condition as the one I received.
This company has a responsibility to make this clear in their online description of what they are selling.
Furthermore, this little item was sent to me in the smallest of jiffy bags, whereas my son's came in a cardboard box, so in order to deliver it the postman got him up early when it was his day off.

At the end of a day spent working on my central heating, the drain valve wouldn't stop leaking. Homebase is not my store of preference but it is only just down the road from me, this was an emergency and it was quite late.
Before setting off I checked their website to make sure they did the bit I needed, and it said 'Stock in store' at this branch. I also observed that Homebase price was £1 more than anyone else's for this relatively cheap part.
After spending much time rummaging about in the plumbing section and almost weeping with frustration, I found the sole one of what I needed, hidden behind some different items, where others before me had probably missed it. If I hadn't found that, there wouldn't have been any heating or hot water that night.
That was a week ago. I popped in there yesterday for another little thing, and while I was there I naturally had to check the plumbing fittings. There was no new stock of 1/2in threaded drain valves. Out of curiosity I looked at their website when I was back home, and it still claimed 'Stock in store' of this item at this branch.
