I could not believe how quickly Travel Republic washed their hands of us once we asked for help after being stuck in New York during Hurricane Sandy. I am well aware that they couldn't open airports or put on flights but they wouldn't even offer advice. You cannot believe how scary it is to discover you and your kids are in the middle of a city dark and devastated by a hurricane and that your travel company don't want to know you, when I begged they gave me 2 numbers one was discontinued the other was the Airport shuttle bus, so useless. I'm still having nightmares about the total abandonment and panic we felt, and when I do I hear the totally disinterested voice of the guy at travel republic telling me "sorry we're just an agency" and hanging up . Now we are back everyone is approaching us asking about the experience and all 8 of us are making sure that everyone we come into contact with knows how they behaved. I NEVER want anyone else to go through what we did and I don't mean the hurricane - that couldn't be helped - but we could have been and all I wanted was a little advice and perhaps some phone numbers that would work. I WILL NEVER PUT MY FAMILY IN THE POSITION OF BEING DEPENDANT ON THAT FIRM AGAIN
